Well.. The last hearing looked promising to get a trial date but it was reset till Feb. 15th ( Heathers Birthday)
Apparently Mr. Greens attorney is in another trial here soon and they cant set a date for this one till its completed. Assuming they set a date at the next hearing, it looks like it will be some time in May. Thats right- MAY 2012!!!!! 4 months away!
I will keep you posted… Please pray this date is set at next hearing!

I know I have been slacking some here.. So I just wanted to give everyone a quick update…
The Court Date in October was pretty uneventful. Mr. Green was not brought out into court and all we got from the very informal hearing was Mr. Green was claiming to be mentally incompitent to stand trial. He would now be evalulated by the State and a new court date was set for Dec. 7
At the Dec.7 hearing (which I could not attend) not only was he in the court room for all to see for the first time (so ticked I missed it) He was found compitent to stand trial. YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Another hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 5 2012. From what I understand this is a PRE TRIAL HEARING– which means they will be trying to get a court date scheduled. Finally it seems we are on the home stretch to Justice for Heather 
I promise for more complete and on time updates from here on out.

This is what we get in the mail to inform us of the date and time of the next hearing. Remind you, we got this last time too, with the hearing time of 1:30- and we all know how that went! Better luck next time. So who will be there with me on Oct. 5th?

July 6 was the second hearing, or shall I say, the rescheduled date of the first hearing!!
This time we were told to arrive at 1:30 PM, so we did. 5 attended this time as well. While waiting in the hallway for them to open the courtroom I decided to look at the docket. Last hearing, although we were told to be there at 9:00, he had been moved to the 1:30 docket prior and we didnt not know, so I was looking to see what docket he was on today. He was not on the afternoon dockett. He was on the morning dockett. A funny feeling set in,so I went into the courtroom. The Judge, Baliff, Mr. Taylor ( attorney for Cordell Green) and a few court clerks were in there. The Judge asked me if he could help, so I asked if we had missed the hearing or not. We had. They had moved it to the morning dockett and heard the case around 10:30. I had just drove 2 hours for nothing. 2 other family members just drove 3 hours to get there and we were headed back home already. It was just disrspectful. To add to it, when asked, the Baliff told me he was in court. In my opinion, the lawyer didnt bring him out in court last hearing because we were all there, and did bring him this time because we were not. I am pretty angry about this. We tried to talk to the DA and to the Victim Support lady who is suppose to be updating us on these changes. Both were out of the office. I have emails to send, but just havent yet. I need to wait till Im not quite as angry and disappointed.
This hearing had also been reset to Oct. 5, 10:30AM. I will be calling the week of and day before this time.
If I am following everything correctly, the Status Hearing itself has yet to happen. It has now been reset twice. Maybe the status hearing itself isnt as quick, just the resets are. We shall see.
One good thing about the day, I got to bring the baby boy home with me for a few days

Wed. June 1st was the first hearing for Cordell Green where we were invited to attend. Polk County Courthouse, Livingston, TX.
5 of us showed up at 9:ooAM, just the time we were instructed to. We take our seats and wait only to find out, that due to the late arrival of Mr. Green’s attorney who is from another town, was going to be late. The hearing was moved to the 1:30 docket. We went and had lunch, visited Heather’s grave and cross and then returned to the courthouse by 1. Court started, his name was called. His attorney told the baliff to leave him back there. I asssume back there is some type of holding cell or room that the prisoners were coming out of. I was very upset and I know the others were too, that he was not there in court. I wanted to look at him. I dont know why, But I wanted to see this person who accused of shooting my friend. So disappotined.
There was a bunch of talk between the lawyers and Judge. It was all very quiet and I couldnt make out anything they were saying. The DA, Lee Hon informed us the Status Hearing was reset to July 6, 1:30 PM.
What is a status hearing you ask? Well it is some type of hearing were each side just kinda updates the judge where they are in their case. Or at least someting similar to that. Thats my take on the explanation I got when asked. There will be many of these type of hearings until the trial. They are super quick, and non informative to us. We are more merely a presence there in support of Heather.
Some of Cordell’s family was there. I dont know how many for sure, or who was who, but no one spoke to us or anything. Which I dont know why they would, its a akward feeling for them too.

I have created a “How we got here” page to tell you about Heather and what happened to her. Also, please check out the “In the News” page to read news articles related to the case. One of the You Tube videos at the top of the page also gives a good history of the case from beginning to arrest. It is over 8 min long but worth the wait.
The question I get most is who did this to her? and Why? While I can’t answer the why, I can answer who is charged (innocent until proven GUILTY in a court of law.)
Arrested and charged with Capital Murder for shooting and killing Heather Dorris- Ramsey is Cordell Renard Green, 22 of Alto, TX with ties to the Livingston, Lufkin area.
In May of 2010, Cordell Green was also involved in a armed robbery at a Little Ceasars Pizza in Lufkin, TX where a employee was injured in the robbery. You can read about that incident here:

He was out on bond during the time of Heather’s murder.

Well.. I guess he meant it.. he sure didnt leave any witness to whatever he was up to.. This facebook post was just couple weeks before Heather’s murder. My thought- If the Judge thought he was such a menise to Lufkin, then why didnt he lock him up? He just moved on to another town.
While it’s frustrating and somewhat angers me to see all his friends and family posting ” FREE CORDELL” I understand, they probably dont know a killer, Just a thug. Okay, enough about Mr. Green for the day, it gets my blood pumping to talk about him to much. On to another suspect.. John McDuffie.
18 yr old John Wesley McDuffie of Livingston, TX has been arrested and charged with Tampering with Evidence. News reports state he helped hidet he murder weapon. I believe he also picked Cordell up a short distance from the crime scene and drove him out of town.
I dont know much more of Mr. McDuffie’s involvment other than what I have stated. Hopefully he is cooperating with Law Enforcemnt as he is in good position too.
You would think Heather’s famlily would no more about the case, about what happened, but we do not. We will have to wait for most of the details to come out in the trial.

This blog has been set up in memory Heather Dorris- Ramsey who was murderd in Livingston, TX on Dec. 30 2010. I hope to keep a online journal to inform those interested about the case. Once I figure out how to work in this blog, I will create a history page to tell you a little bit about Heather, what happend to her. The “Home” page of the blog will be to keep all of her friends and loved ones up to date on the status of the case and trial. As of now, this site is truley ” under construction” !!
